How to use the backlink checker
- 1Enter Your domain.
- 2List up to 10 Pages that should link to you, such as a guest post or directory listing.
- 3Press Verify links.
- 4For each page, read whether a link was found, its anchor text and whether it is followed, nofollow, sponsored or ugc. Download the CSV to keep a record.
Checking your own backlinks in Search Console
The most complete free list of links to your site is in Google Search Console → Links: top linking sites, top linked pages and top anchor text, from Google's own crawl. Bing Webmaster Tools → Backlinks shows Bing's view and lets you compare with other domains. Both require verifying that you own the site. Export the lists, then use this verifier to confirm that the links you care most about are still in place.
Checking a competitor's backlinks
Neither Google nor Bing shows other sites' backlinks in detail. Commercial tools (Ahrefs, Semrush, Majestic, Moz) crawl the web themselves and sell that index; their free tiers show a sample. Their totals differ because each crawls a different part of the web. This page doesn't estimate backlink counts or authority scores: without a crawl of the web, any such number would be invented.
Why we don't show estimated numbers
An earlier version of this page displayed backlink totals, authority scores and "toxic links" that were randomly generated. They have been removed. What the verifier reports is checked live: our server fetches each page you list and reads its HTML for <a href> links to your domain and subdomains, with their text and rel values (nofollow, sponsored, ugc, or none, which means followed). It also flags pages marked noindex, whose links may be dropped by search engines. Links inserted by JavaScript after load aren't in the HTML and won't be found.
What happens to the address I enter?
To check a URL, our server requests the address you enter and returns the result to you. We don't store the pages we fetch or keep a list of the addresses you check. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical request logs for security. See the privacy policy.
