How to use the reverse text generator
- 1Type or paste your text into Your text.
- 2Choose from Reversed text, Reversed word order, Each word reversed or Reversed line order.
- 3Press Copy on the row you want.
- 4Read the line above the results to see whether your text is a palindrome.
Example
Was it a car or a cat I saw?
Reversed text: ?was I tac a ro rac a ti saW Reversed word order: saw? I cat a or car a it Was Each word reversed: saW ti a rac ro a tac I ?was
The tool also reports that the sentence is a palindrome once case, spaces and punctuation are ignored.
Reverse the whole text
Reversed text writes every line backwards, character by character. It reverses by visible character (grapheme), so an accented letter stays on its letter and emoji such as 👍🏽 or flags stay whole instead of breaking into pieces, a common bug in simpler reversers: “Café 👍🏽 ok” becomes “ko 👍🏽 éfaC”. Each line is reversed on its own, and the lines stay in order; use Reversed line order to flip the order of lines.
Reverse word order
Reversed word order keeps each word readable and reverses their order in each line: “one two three” becomes “three two one”. Punctuation stays attached to its word, so “saw?” moves as a unit. This is handy for language exercises and for reversing lists written on one line.
Reverse each word in place
Each word reversed keeps the words where they are and writes each one backwards: “hello world” becomes “olleh dlrow”. Spaces and line breaks stay exactly where they were. It makes simple puzzles that are easier to decode than fully reversed text.
Reversed vs mirrored vs upside-down text
| Style | “Hello” becomes | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Reversed | olleH | Order only |
| Mirrored | ollɘH | Order, and letters swapped for mirror-image look-alikes |
| Upside down | ollǝH | Order, and letters swapped for rotated look-alikes |
Mirrored and upside-down text use special Unicode characters, so screen readers may not read them; reversed text uses only your own characters. For more flipping options, see the upside down text generator.
Checking palindromes
A palindrome reads the same in both directions, like “level” or “Was it a car or a cat I saw?”. The check above the results ignores case, spaces, punctuation and accents, which is the usual convention for sentence palindromes. It needs at least two letters or digits. Try “A man, a plan, a canal: Panama”.
