How to use the HEIC to PNG converter

HEIC to PNG vs HEIC to JPG
Choose PNG when you'll edit the photo heavily or repeatedly: PNG is lossless, so each save keeps every pixel, and you can export a final JPG at the end. Choose JPG for everything else (sharing, uploading, email, printing): it is accepted everywhere and a fraction of the size. For that, use the HEIC to JPG converter.
File size expectations
HEIC is very efficient and PNG is lossless, so the PNG of a 12-megapixel photo is commonly many megabytes, several times the HEIC's size. That is normal: PNG stores every pixel exactly, including sensor noise, which compresses poorly. If size matters, convert to JPG instead, or reduce the PNG afterwards with compress PNG, though photos rarely shrink much as PNG.
Batch conversion
Select many photos at once; they are converted one after another to keep your browser responsive. In Safari, HEIC is decoded natively and quickly; in other browsers a HEIC decoder loads the first time and each large photo takes a few seconds. Download all (ZIP) saves the PNGs in one file. A file that is actually a JPG inside (iPhones often convert when sharing) is decoded and converted the same way.
Editing after conversion
PNG opens in every editor, including those that don't support HEIC. Note that PNG has no standard place for camera EXIF data in most editors, so the date taken and location aren't copied; keep the original HEIC if you need them. Colors are converted to standard sRGB as the browser displays them.
